Menu Plan Monday

Okay -- so I'm slowly getting back to blogging after a 2 week hiatis.  I'm trying to establish a balance between my new (and more) work hours and my family/home.  Blogging has to take it's place after family, home and work.  Although it is my favorite hobby.

I've been slacking on the menu planning too.  I've planned for two or three days out instead of the whole week.  So, I'm trying to get back to a week now.

Menu planning is the true secret to keeping your house running and keeping you on a budget.  I can always see a jump in food expenses when I don't menu plan.  But, menu planning can also be time consuming and sometimes boring, you just have to keep at it and don't beat yourself up if you slip sometimes.  Just get back on the menu horse!

Here we go....

Monday --  Chicken Gnocchi Soup (Olive Garden knock-off)

Tuesday -- Cous Cous with Vegetarian Spaghetti Sauce

Wednesday --  Spaghetti/ with veggies

Thursday --  Veggie Burgers with homemade steakfries

Friday --  Frozen Pizza

Saturday -  Simple Supper, mac n cheese, green beans, other veggies

Sunday --   Mexican Soup

Menu Plan Monday

Okay - I must confess, this past week did not go well with the menu. I worked extra days and hours at my outside job and I physically didn't feel well. So, we had a dinner out and had several quickie pre-packaged meals (i.e frozen pizza). Therefore, I'm going to recycle some dinners from last week's menu and hopefully things will be better this week.

Monday -- Chicken Rice Skillet (I will probably change up the vegetables listed in this recipe link so that everyone in the family will eat it)

Tuesday -- Double Spaghetti Squash -- havn't had this in a long time, but found spaghetti squash on sale this week, so we're having it again!

Wednesday -- Couscous with Vegetarian Spaghetti Sauce -- I tried this for the first time a few weeks ago, and the family ate it up! Not a single cous left.

Thursday -- Simple Supper: Mac n cheese, green beans, BBQ beans, fruit,

Friday -- Italian Vegetable and Asiago Bowties

Saturday -- End of Summer Harvest Soup in Crockpot

Sunday -- Left overs

Menu Plan Monday

I almost let this slide, but having a plan for dinner each day really helps the chaos to a quiet roar and helps the budget because I'm less tempted to just throw up my hands and say "let's go out". I don't always follow my plan exactly. For instance, I often swap the days of what we eat when, but at least I have something on board for the dinner meal.

Monday -- Leftover hamburgers and frenchfries from the oven

Tuesday -- Quesadillas.

Wednesday -- Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken

Thursday -- Italian Vegetables and Pasta

Friday -- Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup, Fruit

Saturday -- Tamale Lentil Caserrole

Sunday -- End of Summer Harvest Soup -- in the crockpot

Menu Plan Monday

Last week was the first week I had a menu plan in several weeks, and things went so much more smoothly at dinner time. Menu planning takes a little time, but it really does make my home run smoother. Most of my meals are $5 or less because I purchase the ingredients when they are on sale and with a coupon to get them at their rock bottom price. When I find an item at the rock bottom price, I try to buy as many as possible to stock up so that I do not have to buy it again until it's on sale.

Monday -- Spaghetti w/ Italian Meat Balls

Tuesday -- No Roll Mexican Rice Enchiladas

Wednesday -- Salmon w/ Steamed Veggies and Rice

Thursday -- Simple Supper - mac n cheese from a box, green beans, corn

Friday -- Vegetarian Chili in Crockpot, corn muffins

Saturday -- Grilled Burgers and fixins

Sunday -- leftovers, or pizza

Menu Plan Monday

After a long absence, I am going to try and start posting my weekly menu again. Something happened over the summer, and I just couldn't get to it. But, I'm taking back control of my house!

Most of my dinners cost $5 or less. I am able to do this by matching coupons to sale items and getting them at their rock bottom price. Then I stockpile so that I do not have to buy that item again until it's on sale (and hopefully I have coupons).

Monday -- Crockpot Teryaki Chicken w/ Rice & steamed veggies

Tuesday -- Italian Vegetable and Asiago Bow-tie Pasta

Wednesday -- Cous Cous with Spaghetti Sauce and mixed veggies (this is a new one, we'll see if it makes the cut!)

Thursday -- Simple Supper: Grilled Cheese & Soup

Friday - Pizza from the freezer(End of the work week -- mama doesn't want to cook!)

Saturday -- No Roll Mexican Rice Enchiladas

Sunday -- Veggie Burgers w/ fries.

Sorry, I got on a Betty Crocker kick and didn't realize almost all my recipes are from there this week.

Menu Plan Monday

Well, I took the weekend off from the blog, and now I'm having trouble getting back into it.

I try to plan my dinners to be $5 or less except when I use meat. It will cost more because I've made a commitment to only purchase organic and humanely raised meat. This causes it to be more expensive, but it's not a budget buster if you shop wisely. I try to limit my meat meals to once or twice a week max. Otherwise, I am able to keep my meals at $5 or less by shopping sales, using coupons and stockpiling items when I get them at their rock bottom price.

Monday -- Quick Bean Quesadillas

Tuesday -- Hash Brown Frittata

Wednesday -- Lentil Tacos (recipe to come later)

Thursday -- Simple Supper: Canned Veggies, mashed potatoes, crescent rolls

Friday -- Dance Class! Leftovers

Saturday -- Multiple birthday parties! Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup

Sunday -- Slow Cooker Pizza (recipe to come later)

I try to keep my meals at $5 or under unless I'm serving meat, which can sometimes make it more expensive. I've made a commitment to only purchase organic and/or all natural meat that was humanely raised. It's more expensive, but not impossible to find deals on -- you have to look harder! Otherwise, I'm able to keep my meal costs down by couponing and stockpiling products when I find them at their rock bottom price.

Menu Plan Monday (okay.. Tuesday)

I did not fall off the face of the earth! I've just not found the time to blog. But I have several things to talk about, so maybe I'll be able to catch up on my blogging the next couple of days.

I'm kinda excited about my menu this week, we're having something we don't eat alot of around here.... meat! I got a deal on organic, free range chicken that I'll be cooking this week.

Normally I try to keep my meals at $5 or less, unless the meal includes meat. I've committed to only purchasing organic and humanely raised meat, so it is always more expensive than other meat. Otherwise, I'm able to keep my meals at $5 or less by stockpiling ingredients when they go on sale and using coupons. Also I am starting to cook from scratch more and more to avoid processed foods.

Monday -- Leftover pizza

Tuesday -- Skillet Nachos (I'll be using organic blue corn tortilla chips I got for $1 this week! Yea!)

Wednesday -- Roast Sticky Chicken w/ roasted potatoes and veggies (my reduced price organic chicken find! Whoo Hoo!) I'm going to make this recipe in the crock pot.

Thursday -- Chicken Tacos

Friday -- Simple Supper: Green beans, potatoes, mac n cheese

Saturday -- Tamale Lentil Casserole

Sunday -- Spaghetti with marinara sauce and garlic bread

Menu Plan Monday

I took last week off from menu planning because I had a back injury and I was sick. It was not a great week for meals, and we ended up having take out one night (my child begged and begged for pizza that she saw on TV, and my defenses were down). I've committed to getting back on track this week.

I try to keep my meals at $5 unless we have meat, and then it's going to be more because I've made a commitment to only buying humanely raised, organic meats. We rarely have meat more than once a week, sometimes not at all. I am able to keep my meals at $5 or less by shopping sales and using coupons and cooking from scratch.

Monday -- Very Veggie Chili with confetti corncakes

Tuesday -- Southwestern Pot Pie (I'll make my own cornbread mix)

Wednesday -- Bachelor Stew (this recipe is very flexible, I will throw in whatever veggies are most convenient for me)

Thursday -- Simple Supper: leftovers

Friday -- Dance Class! Sandwiches/Soup

Saturday -- DiGiorno Pizza Party Night! (more to come on that later!)

Sunday -- Homemade Veggie Helper

Menu Plan Monday

I'm still trying to keep my meals at $5 dollars or under. But I'm also on a mission to feed more nutritious and whole foods, less processed foods. It's going to be a challenge and a long journey because you cannot change everything (and your budget) overnight. I had already made a commitment to only purchase humanely raised meat for the occasional meat meal, but now I'm learning how important that organic meats are for our health too. That goes for all products, especially any animal derived products.
Here's our menu for the week.

Monday - Vegetable Stew with Herbed Dumplings

Tuesday - Roasted Vegetable Pasta (minus the meat, add more veggies)

Wednesday - Slow Cooker Black Beans & Rice

Thursday - Simple Supper, Mashed potatoes, green beans, mac n cheese, biscuits

Friday - Dance Class! Leftovers or Quick Bean Quesadillas

Saturday - Mom's Mini meatloaves, corn on cob, baked potatoes

Sunday - Spaghetti Broccoli Bake (minus the chicken)
